If you’re looking for an awesome PR strategy, Torque Associate Director, Alex Michaelides has the knowledge and experience to meet every brief.

Let’s get to know Alex a little more…

How did you get into PR?

I had planned to be a journalist and won a journalism award when I was 20. At the award ceremony a man came up to me and asked if I had ever considered PR – I hadn’t – a few months later, he was my first boss.

Do you have an idol or someone that's been an inspiration?

Ross Brawn – statistically the most successful F1 engineer of all time. He seems to have a magical ability to make a success of everything he does – but when you look at how he does it, it’s through a fairly simple, disciplined process.

What was your first car and what is your dream car?

My first car was an L-reg Vauxhall Corsa 1.0, complete with faded red paintwork and rusting steel wheels. I have too many dream cars to list – most are red and Italian. I can whittle it down to two – the Ferrari 512BB or 308 GT4, both were quite important to me growing up, so would really mean something to own.

What's the best thing about working at Torque?

We’re like a good F1 team – our whole is so much greater than the sum of our parts. We’re a relatively small organisation but so regularly punch above our weight with the results we deliver.

If you could give one bit of advice to someone new to PR?

Experience and connections count for an awful lot – try to get as much work experience as you can, and really throw yourself into every opportunity you get.
