Richard Murray and Rachel Klamer, two of Havoline’s celebrity brand ambassadors, have been in the UK competing in races, and hosting business appearances over the last week.

Starting in Nottingham, the duo entered the Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relay, before heading north to Leeds, where Richard secured first place in the AJ Bell World Triathlon. Determined to maintain stamina, Richard and Rachel arrived next in London, where they hosted a training session for the Chevron workforce.

Three disciplines

The Triathletes travel the world competing in the ITU World Triathlon Series, with Nottingham, the first UK destination of the 2018 race series, and host city of the inaugural Triathlon Mixed Team Relay. The first in a three race series, the relay was a chance for the Havoline ambassadors to represent their home countries; Richard, South Africa; and Rachel, The Netherlands. The race comprised a two female, two male team, and the course was made up of a 300m swim, 6.6km cycle and 1km run. Each athlete had to complete the ‘mini’ Triathlon before tagging off to a teammate. The Triathlon Mixed Relay will debut as an official sport in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

After Nottingham, Richard and Rachel traveled to Leeds. Where the Triathlon brought over 100,000 fans to the city streets, cheering Richard to the win, as he completed the 1500m swim, 36.2Km cycle, and 10Km run.

From race track to the boardroom

Rachel and Richard document their global travels through regular, social media activity to help Chevron engage with its target audience, and market the Havoline brand of premium engine oils. Reflecting the Texaco Havoline brand ethos of “Keep Going”, the ambassadors finished their UK tour with a trip to London to workout with the Chevron workforce.

The Havoline brand ambassadors hosted a tailored workout event, attended by more than 30 staff members at Chevron’s Canary Wharf offices. The session began with an in-depth ‘Triathlon Clinic’, where employees gained insight on how professional athletes train to keep going during a race. This was followed by a 5km run around the Limehouse Basin, finishing with a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) drill.
