MG Motor UK has officially revealed its first electric car, the new ZS EV, at the London Motor Show 2019 at ExCel London.

The ZS EV joins MG’s already strong SUV and hatchback line-up as the family friendly zero-emissions electric car that majors on space and practicality. The new model brings new standards for the brand in terms of safety equipment and technology.

Powered by a 44.5 kWh water-cooled battery, the ZS EV boasts an impressive rapid-charging capability, while owners can also plug in at home on a standard 7kW unit, enjoying a full charge in six-and-a-half hours.

The new ZS EV is bursting with safety equipment and technology, making it the most advanced product in MG’s portfolio. Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Assist featuring automatic low-speed steering, Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Alert Control System are fitted as standard on every ZS EV.

Inside the car, the family focused ZS EV is equipped with a new panoramic, sliding sky roof to further enhance the sense of space within the cabin. Furthermore, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allows for seamless integration with the owners’ own smartphone, while DAB Radio, keyless entry and satellite navigation enhances the level of technology found within the electric SUV.

Daniel Gregorious, Head of Sales and Marketing at MG Motor UK, said: “The arrival of the ZS EV represents the start of MG’s long-term brand and product expansion plan and we are delighted to be able to share it with the British public for the first time. The arrival of the ZS EV adds a new dimension to the car market by offering high-tech zero-emissions transport to a broader cross-section of buyers.

“The initial interest in ZS EV is extremely encouraging and confirms that car buyers are looking for a practical, versatile and stylish electric vehicle. It will also be the most high-tech MG yet. Following this, we will move to the next phase of our launch plan, by opening our order book at the show. Interested buyers can place a holding deposit on the stand to reserve their place on the waiting list. As visitors will see, this new MG bares all the key hallmarks customers know and love about the standard ZS in terms of flexibility, space and generous standard specification, but it just so happens to be a fully electric SUV.”
