RM Sotheby’s has announced a new addition to its European auction calendar. Alongside existing established Paris, Monaco, and London events, the renowned classic car auction house will consign around 150 diverse automobile lots in Essen Germany on 11 April 2019. The sale will run as an extension of the Techno-Classica Essen classic car event, held at the same time.

Established German collector car market

The addition of the Essen event addresses a sustained level of interest in high value vehicle sales in Europe, and RM Sotheby’s recognises the collector car market in Germany as especially strong.

Last year, the Techno-Classica Essen Show – a long running fair for classic car enthusiasts in Essen – attracted 185,000 visitors and 1,250 exhibitors from 30 different countries. The 2019 Techno-Classica Essen Show is set to take place 10 to 14 April.

Famous consignments up for grabs

RM Sotheby’s is currently exhibiting at this year’s Essen show, running until 25 March, with a 1992 Benetton B192 Formula 1 race car on show. The Benetton car will then make its way to Monte Carlo later this year, where it will be available for bidding at RM Sotheby’s Monaco auction at Grimaldi Forum on the 12 May.
