Following the launch of its all-new Griffith sports car in 2017, TVR is returning to the race track for the first time in 10 years. Announced today as the automotive partner to REBELLION Racing, TVR will compete in the LMP1 category of the FIA World Endurance Championship 2018 – 2019 super season.

REBELLION Racing TVR will make its track debut during the WEC Prologue event at Circuit Paul Ricard, at Le Castellet, on 6 April 2018.

From race track to the road

Learnings from TVR’s collaboration with REBELLION Racing will flow directly into the development and production both of its road car line-up, and into its future racing projects.

Les Edgar, Chairman of TVR, said: “When we resurrected the TVR brand, we knew that we wanted to achieve a return to the race track. Our partnership with REBELLION Racing allows us to achieve that goal, while bringing about valuable operational and technical knowledge, which directly transfers to our road car operation and future racing activities.”

Racing in its DNA

Sports car racing is a fundamental element of TVR’s heritage, with TVR’s first three models (TVR 1, 2 and 3) all being designed for use on the track. TVR entered its first endurance race in 1962, participating in the 24 hours of Le Mans in the TVR Grantura.

REBELLION has won a number of championship categories over the last five years. In partnering with the team, TVR has chosen to return to endurance racing at the very height of competition.

Calim Bouhadra, vice president of REBELLION, said: “Since winning the title last November, we have worked on an ambitious project for this new Super Season, with the creation of a brand-new car and recruitment of a quality driver line up. So, it’s a new ambitious adventure that starts for REBELLION and we’re looking forward to seeing our two R-13s face our competitors.”
