Mindful Monday (January 16th)

In the second of our Mindful Monday posts, we asked Torque director and Mindfulness teacher, Belle Moss to give us her thoughts on building resilience. Here are some of her top tips.

Build Connections

Good relationships with family, friends and community builds resilience. Being active with organisations that are meaningful to you not only provides social support but helping others will also be of benefit to you.

Move toward your goals

Develop realistic goals and do something regularly to move toward them no matter how small.

Nurture a positive view of yourself

Developing confidence in your ability to solve problems and trusting your instincts helps build resilience.

Keep things in perspective

Even when facing very difficult events, try to consider the situation in a broader context and with as much emotional detachment as possible.

Maintain a hopeful outlook

An optimistic outlook enables you to expect that good things will happen in your life. Try visualising what you want, rather than worrying about what you fear.

Take care of yourself

Pay attention to your own needs and feelings. Engage in activities that you enjoy and find relaxing. Taking care of yourself helps to keep your mind and body in shape to deal with situations that require resilience.
